Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Officers mentioned they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then located numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.

A senior political figure commented the incident made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
